Where to find the VIN

  • • On the vehicle registration document.
  • • On a plate at the base of the windscreen, on the driver’s side.
  • • On a sticker in the driver’s door frame.
  • • Stamped into the chassis, often under the bonnet or in the boot well.

It is always 17 characters and never contains the letters I, O or Q — they were left out of the standard so they could not be mistaken for 1 and 0.
